Class One
You'll have to check the T&C's of the particular company, especially if it was international.

If it came from the USA via USPS---> Parcel Force who is responsible? It's going to cost waaaaay too much to send it back to the US and probably happened via parcelforce in the UK anyway (they had it for over 2 weeks )
colsoop
Did you pay for an increased insurance valuation on the goods ? If not then you will probably get whatever the standard insurance value is £50 or something like that for most. Take loads of pictures then contact the customer services to get the relevant people to talk to about complaints / damage etc.
Guest gzaerojon
i got caught out on courier insurance once i send a set of glass headlights to a customer and they arived smashed, but as it was a company they were just signed for by who ever. i filled in the claim form and they very quickly said they won't pay out as they were signed to say they were in good condition i had a go at them saying why was someone with a different name signing for a parcel that was clearly addressed to someone else??? But still nothing so the next set i sent them i asked them to check the contents while the delivery driver was standing there, but the delivery driver said they DON'T do that as a rule, then got in his van and left.. WTF?? i can't win that was DHL btw sorry for the long post
hogmaw
The only way is to be persistent, and then when you feel like giving up, be more persistent. You WILL win, if you can be bothered, but more often than not they have these 'rules' to put you off making the claim.
mkirby
a standard uk parcel is covered upto £150 per item with parcelforce but its the job if the poster to make the claim so take pics and get in touch with your supplier and ask what insurance they took out and to start a claim. if it was a bonnet then whoever posted it should have sent it the correct way as the usps and parcelforce dont carry anything that large so you may find you will get nothing back for it as it will be outside terms and conditions i would insist on a refund from your supplier as they didnt post it on a proper service which would guarantee it arrives to you in a satisfactory manor if you need more help or for me to add my comments to your supplier (i work for parcelforce) then just ask with regards to the lights, no parcel company covers for anything glass.
