out of interest does methanol mix readily with water

yes.

if you have a 50% mix then it isn't even flammable.

It then reduces the surface tension of the water, making it much easier to evaporate when in mist form

...is it safe to use with plastic tanks and pipe work

It depends on the plastic, many are OK to use with alcohols.

What you do not want is high concentrations of methanol sitting for long periods in parts not rated for alcohols. You may get some furring in aluminum parts for example (after prolonged contact, days+)

I would only use this chart as a rough starting point.

It is better to keep your engine running (for the full voltage to the pump) and disconnect one lug from the pressure switch.

This will activate the pump, and if you have your nozzle(s) sitting temporarily in a calibrated container you will see more accurately the real flow per minute.

It is not 100% accurate since there is no boost pressure (or vacuum :sly: ) for the pump to work against, but it takes into consideration the real path (sucking from the tank, pushing through corners etc)
