Torn Quad.

Ok, so was playing football last night. Into the 2nd half we go, drawing 2-2, we get a free kick just outside the box. So im not bad at hittng free kicks, so up i step. Ref wasnt looking and keeper was off his line so i hit it early. Ball went over the bar. Ref said wait for the whistle SON. He pulls it back and i get to take it again.

Up i step again, and since it was raining i thought right, i'll hit this low and hard. POP, i tore my right quad when i struck the ball. Ended up in A&E for the night, now on strong pain killers and crutches.

So iv got to go back today to see a Specialist about getting it sorted. I'm off work, cant drive the Soop and in agony. NOT HAPPY at all. [ANGRY][/ANGRY]

But we did win 4-2.

I tore my front mid quad on my left leg last year 80% thickness tear and now have a big "dent" in my thigh where the muscle used to be. It was like being smacked in the leg with a baseball bat at the time. Took about 3 weeks for the bruise to come out fully. I had to wait about 10-12 weeks before commencing any physio and even now a year later I'm still having probs with it. The problem with a big tear is that it'll never grow back, never heal, you can only build up the groups around the tear to compensate. Unless that is you're lucky enough to get an op. I was considered too old at 37 (then) to have it done on the NHS, and I couldn't afford private.

Its an injury you'll have to be very patient with, and recovery will atke an awfully long time. Good luck.

Well i hope after i get seen today, its only a partial tear. Boss said to me remember that your fully covered under our health insurance. So after today i can get seen by private docs.

Sorry to hear this, one piece of advice i will give you is don't be in too much of a rush to get back to your football etc.

Let it heal fully or you will never get back to full strength and keep getting set backs.Trust me i know ;)

You will be able to drive the soop again, when you do it will be like driving a new car and feel fantastic. "absence makes the heart grow fonder :)
