Daneway
I had the grave misfortune to sh&g the rear nearside suspension on the Soop last weekend after walloping a kerb. The poor beastie is now with a local garage sorted by the insurance company. After a totally unhelpful local Toyota dealer tells the garage that "everything is different on imports" (come on guys), I need to find out if we can use UK components on my J-spec. Are the rear suspension arms etc and wheel hub assy a straight swap from a UK car? (I now the springs/shockers are different). If they are it means repair time is measured in weeks rather than months!! Thanks in great anticipation!!
Whitesupraboy2
Just out of question how could you tell it was shagged??? arch was closer to tyre or something else??
Daneway
How do I know it's sh&gged? The workshop inspection and the rather "jaunty" angle the RNS wheel is poised:
richy2jz-gte
i did the same to my uk tt all i did was brake the ball joint off the 1st lower arm and bend the 2nd lower arm mine looked a lot worse than urs tho. it cost £120 (for 2 new arms) dead easy DIY i fixed mine in 15 mins. u could see the full width of the tire from the side of the car. Whitesupraboy2
Reason i ask is where i have had my off i have noticed my wheel is not pointing straight it must be less then a cm out no where near as bad as urs as the kerb i hit was a sloping up one(not a drive way type) instead of one that is on edge of path,if u understand what i mean. But is just about visable with the eye, i have checked under car and everything looks correct and not bent, so i think getting laser alirgnment will sort mine out ....well im hopeing now! Whitesupraboy2
It is definatly secure i jacked car up and was basically trying to rip the wheel off. It was nice and secure and wouldnt move a inch. So whats this adjuster bolt?? is it something i can adjust or needs to go to garage?? is it too do with the tracking??? I dont know if you can tell from pics that is slightly out? Daneway
There are cam adjusters on the no.1 and no.2 suspension arms on the inside mounting points to adjust both camber and toe on the rear wheels. Cheers, MARTIN
richy2jz-gte
u can adjust it urself its quite tight and u really need allignment gear but if u line it up down the side of the car level with the other wheel it shouldnt b far out i did my rear by eye just 2 get me to the dealer for a 4wheel alignment and i was only 3 degrees out with 1 wheel. the bolts are at the end of the bottom arms they have offset washers either end to adjust toe and camper u need 2 19mm spanners slacken the nut off and turn the bolt until it looks bout right and dog the nut back up holding bolt with the other spanner making sure it dont turn. make sure there really tight.
