Pig
Im having slight "issues" with my idle. I have had to adjust it lots, just so the car will idle. Its adjusted to the max. Not just from the wires but the little bit that actually pushes the metal part away. Im sorry i dont have my camera so i cant take a pic or video. I thought the idle could be set on the EMU, having been told that idle is sorted by the stock ECU, im now a little confused. cheers for any advice! Robert
if you have had to adjust that cable i would say you need to get your car seen to asap mate.
Pig
lol, its not just adjusted. its maxed out. And thats why i have had to now use the other thing (bolt) to adjust it. Im trying to look at it. i opened the bonnet and stared for ages, didnt fix anything though.
terribleturner
if you have had to adjust that cable i would say you need to get your car seen to asap mate. The EMU uses the throttle postion to help with the map and now moving it will mean it's changed slightly. Probably not enough to actually be a problem but worth while getting the person who did it just to look over the map again.
LeeT
have you got a wideband? what does it read at idle?
Pig
Hmm, so are there any suggestions of how to have it set up so its not maxed out mechanically?? If i move it all back and reset the ECU will it sort it self out?? Its running ok, apart from EGT's getting way too high if i push the car too much! Wez
Are you still running stock ECU? There is an idle control valve which some people have cleaned to fix similar issues.
Pig
Yep i do, its off the scale lean! Yep, still got the stock ECU. Is it a simple case of take it off and clean it?
LeeT
Yep i do, its off the scale lean! at idle? Being so lean is what is causing your EGT problems. If you are lean at idle i would personally stop using the car. Fuel pressure gauge?
Pig
its fine on full boost, which is where the EGT's are a problem. side point, they are 500 at idle, this is high isnt it?!?! No FPR, im thinking of fitting one, then re-mapping!
LeeT
If you are lean at idle it is a closed loop problem and possibly could be ECU related. IanC is going to be the one for this. Could be down to your narrowband o2 sensor being fOOked
Pig
Hmmm, so would it be an idea to clean my idle jobby and o2 sensor? I dont want to spend money trying to sort it as the car works and im trying to save all my money for a rebuild!
Robert
yeah i agree with what Lee just said, as my 02 sensor is broken and i was lean on idle after a few mins and also with i drove off slowly.Stop driving it until its sorted or else you may end up causing more damage. LeeT
i've got a known good o2 sensor here that you can try for testing purposes if you like?
Pig
i have been using it like this for ages! Kids and there cars eh! i thought AFR's were only an issue when boosting!

LeeT
Ill try cleaning, if that makes no diff then i will ask to try that. thanks you were running awfully rich at one point iirc, that could have killed your o2 sensor. Buy yourself a lemon, cut it in half and jam the sensor in it and leave it overnight. The lemon juice will clean the sensor for you without damaging it
