Ive just been trying to change my spark plugs this afternoon, but in doing so ive threaded one of the screws holding the coil packs down!

Really really stuck as i cannot get to the spark plug now??

what can i do???:bang:

buy an extractor tool ,drill the screw then use the extractor to remove the screw.

then I would just drill it.. I think the thread is 6mm, so II would drill 5mm and then use mole grips to try to get the rest out, either that or drill 4.8mm (I htink thats the tapping hole for 6mm taps) down into the head and then re-tap the hole. An easy fix if you have a set of taps and dies of course.

well ive worked out that i dont actually need to remove these screws as i cant just take the coil packs out in pairs as they are held in by 10mm bolts.

the thing is i then have to replace the two hoses that cross the plugs and i dont have them. mine look too brittle to remove without damaging them

When you say you have "threaded one of the screws" am I right in thinking you have damaged one of the cross point screws that hold the coil to the mounting bracket?

If so don't worry, just undo the two 10mm set screws that hold the coil mounting bracket to the head and remove the coils two at a time. With the two coils mounted on the bracket in your hand (rather than on the engine) it will be far easier to get the damaged cross point screw out. :)
