geoffvalenti
Yeah, its surprising how quick you get used to it. In the end it just becomes 2nd nature. Anyway these days all the 'boxes are fully sychromesh, pah!, easy peasy You haven't lived until you've driven a fully laden Atkinson, crash 'box and no power steering Good luck with the new job, I'm sure you'll love it. I'm in a big dilemma about whether to keep my LGV licence or not at the moment. Due to the new laws coming into force, you have to go on a training course every 3 (I think) years to retain the licence. I haven't used it for years, can't really see me using it again in the near future, but I'm saddened at having to relinquish it

markymark
I remember when I first passed my test and then the next thing I was driving all around London with one eye on the road the other on the map:blink: , damn that was scary. I now have the sat nav and it can be a life saver. But it wont tell you about weight limits so keep your eyes peeled. You can get down loads which give you the heights of bridges which is useful when you are dragging a 16foot trailer

I had just come off "up to date" Scannies and Volvos -christ what an eye opener that was. After crunching my way up and down the box - I asked the owner if this was a joke. Believe it or not he said this was one of his better units and more unbelievable I actually got the job. Within the trade the company was known as "The Antique Roadshow", all in all it wasnt a bad company to work for and I was quite happy for the few years I was there. Cheers Ian PS: these young whippersnappers have it so easy nowadays.
