Justin
I know that: Full tank is 70 litres 1/2 tank is 35 litres 1/4 tank is 17.5 litres But where is 1/4 of a tank on the gauge? What do the other two notches mean? Do they represent 1/4 and 3/4 of a tank even though they are not visually saying that? I'm trying to work out when I have 19 litres left in the tank on the gauge so that I can syphon out what's left and replace it with 19 litres of race fuel. Or should I work it out this way - 1 notch on the gauge = 4.117 litres 70 litres / 17 notches (including an extra notch for the reserve fuel) = 4.117 Therefore I should empty whats left at the 3rd visible notch on the gauge? Help?

Shaun.
It's a shame really, all that money and investment and the fuel gauge is "random". Would be nice to know what the 1/4 tank indication was "roughly" indicating - it's not 1/4 of a tank for sure. Shaun.
Guru
Well the line where the needle is at on that picture is around 6 litres of fuel with whatever else is left around. I fill up at that point every time to save going to a non-Shell garage
