MrHanky Posted July 28, 2006 Share Posted July 28, 2006 Ok then as some of you know Jurgen has just won me a fantastic looking TT, so I need to sell the Rav4 quickly to pay him the deposit and start the ball rolling. Fortunately some guy made a fairly decent offer and I accepted. He came to pick it up last night and instead of bringing cash or a bankers draft turned up with a receipt for a same day bank transfer. I had not seen one of these before and was very insecure about letting him have the keys. So to satisfy my uncertainty I phoned Barclays and got him to talk to someone to try and confirm the payment. She could not do this as it is nothing to do with her but she does say that the piece of paper I have is a guarentee. She also checks the details on it and is satisfied that it will go through by 2pm today. 2pm today comes and goes and there is still nothing, I am very worried now and call the bank. They say wait until 4.30 and check again. I do and still nothing. They eventually check more thoroughly and find that Barclays had entered my account incorrectly (it was correct on the receipt I had but they missed the first digit when processing it) and now it has bounced back. Fecking brilliant, so I have no car and no money. Fortunately the guy is honest and will hopefully be delivering me the cash tomorrow (so long as they have the money back in the account). All this hassle just because someone cannot read, oh and the best bit is that the guy had to pay £20 for the privilage of using this service. We made all our accounts joint a wjile ago and you wouldn't believe the problems we had with existing DD's going awol etc. Absolute nightmare! How come you let me take cash out the cash machine when there was none in there and then charge me. No good anawer so closed the account after 12 years. God they pi**ed me off!
