If they use the same earth point or something similar then go check it. Other than that, it seems a bit strange, Mr "Nice" Harwood may be able to answer the electrical questions better than me.... sinbad
Not sure if this is any use but, water in the doors caused this in a previous car of mine.
LeeT
is it possible that the switch on the drivers door that activates the central locking is faulty. maybe water in it like sinbad said causing it to short?

MGB
What i thought was the water level light wasn't! it was the low oil light! which only came on for a second going down hill on tick over. Checked oil and it was above the low level but filled it up anyway and light didn't come on this morning on my way to work. Problem solved The door locking syndrome continues also the opposite unlocking has happened. Its difficult to explain but i will be driving along everything as normal then the doors just lock! some times they just remain locked until i finish my journey other times i goes into a fit of clicking. EG if you put the key in the door and lock and keep locking it again the motors still operate but the locks are already locked. Also sometimes the lock/unlock button inside the car will only lock or unlock when the above problem occurs. Any more pointers Thanx Mark
Matt Harwood
I doubt very much that this has anything to do with an earthing problem. Most likely is either one of the door motors/switches are playing up, or, as already mentioned, the locking switch on the door may be at fault. I'm not brave enough to rule out the CDL control unit, but I've never heard of one playing up before. Time for a door stip down I think...
MGB
Thanx Matt for the advise Where is the CDL unit in the car? and what does it stand for? Cheers Mark
Matt Harwood
The Central Door Locking unit is up behind/beside the glovebox. I'd check the doors and switches first though.
Grazer
My doors automatically lock about 30secs after I start up. I thought it was a feature They also unlock when you pop your seatbelt - which really does sound like a feature.
Matt Harwood
That's not a standard feature. Well, at least I've never found it on about 30 odd Supra's that I've driven! Lot's of alarms do it as standard, but by Marks description the car lockas and unlocks whilst driving intermittantly...
MGB
Yep thats right only now its locked all the time, the only time it will open on the central locking is if the door is open but pressing the button to lock. Nothing happens when it is pressed to open either with the door open or closed(no clicking etc). In fact even with the key or the alarm fob it will not unlock the central locking. Have been to my local breakers today to obtain the bits but the boss was not in so i have to return tomorrow. Thanx for all the advise Mark
