SMW
If I understand correctly it's like removing an obstruction and allows the exhaust system to become more free flowing. I'm sure someone can do a much better job of explaining:)
outatime
Make your car go faster The turbos are spooled-up by exhaust gasses via the wastegate. Removing the cats will free up gasses in the exhaust meaning the turbos, receiving more gas, produce more boost. Simple The kick from the turbos is more pronounced and lag is reduced, i'd recommend it. Do a search, should keep you busy for a while.
Patrick_Devlin
It may well make your car fail its MOT on emissions But generally Stu, SMW and outatime are right
outatime
Originally posted by Patrick_Devlin It may well make your car fail its MOT on emissions Depends who does the testing There are other considerations, it will increase wear and MPG and you will need a VFCC and a boost gauge etc. Saying that, IMO it is the best 'bang for buck' mod you can do. Stu
It all makes sense when you see what they remove and then see the size and design of the de cat pipes that take their place...
scooby_doo_do
Not to mention it makes the car rumble nicely and you et to set off car alarms in car parks as you drive past them
