edd_t
Ok, so there are many different pub rules when playing English pool. but whilst playing today, a new one got sprung on me. Usually I don't mind a new rule, but this one was stupid!!! I was red, he was yellow, about half way into the game. It was his shot, he hit a yellow first, the balls went all over the place, one of his yellows potted, then one of my reds went in afterwards. Surely that is a foul, and 2 shots to me cos he potted one of my balls during his shot??? But he argued that it wasnt a foul and called it 'Free Table' and he could carry on!!!! Isnt a Free Table only when you are on a break and either nothing or one of each is potted. Anyone else play that rule?
Guru
A free table can only be declared after the opposing player fouls. It usually happens when the pack is congested and you want to hit and hope. Thats my rules though

Soonto_HAS_soop
I've played it before with that rule, it's not a free table but if you pot yours first then it's Ok and you can continue.
Clarkey
~edit~ Sorry misunderstood the post. Yes, it's a foul. 2 shots to you - you've got a choice: Either white behind the line. OR play from where the cue-ball landed. And yes, on your first shot you can hit/pot the opposing colour.

Guest mk47
was this when he took the break? because im just assuming you were red because yellow went in first.. if thats the case, it doesent matter and you just carry on, and he can choose which colour he wants to be. Andy Supra
To be honest when I break the other person doesn't get a shot so we only play by my rules Seriously though, we've a mate who's always making up new rules but in are local if you get 7 balled then you've gotta have trousers down to the ankles and run around the pub then buy the winner a pint
jamesmark
Green Table:- Break anywhere behind the line foul is 2 shots if you hit your ball and you pot a yellow and red as long as yours goes down first no foul 2 shots dont carry free ball only if you can't see both sides of your ball on a foul if fouled and only black left on table it is only 1 shot and not 2 if you break and you pot the black on the break and no other colour the person that pots the black wins Blue table As above but on a foul you can hit any ball you wish on the first of your 2 shots
edd_t
haha the 7 ball rule is a classic! no one ever does it though.
Andy Supra
Don't do the 7 ball rule in my local pub and you'll basically have everyone taking down more than just your jeans. Some person didn't play ball so few blokes in there soon had his jeans and boxers down and refused to give him them back till he went round pub. He goes to the other local now if I was him i'd have relocated to another county.
