chilli Posted May 13, 2006 Share Posted May 13, 2006 Appologies for the numpty question, Ok, got a Miami-GT 3 A-Pillar pod. Just been offering it up to the car. Notice that the shape is a bit iffy, but looks like it will fit but what's puzzling me is that it has none of the standard fixings so there is no way to locate it using the oem fixing locations. Anyone fitted one and recommend a way to fit it? I see there are some screw holes in the A-pilar itself, I could put a screw into that (but it would be visible), any ideas / suggestions? mike_mcevoy Posted May 13, 2006 Share Posted May 13, 2006 I've just fitted one of them, its a tad short towards the end, but i'm not bother about that, I managed to get the rest of it to line up and fixed it to a spare bolt hole at the top of the A pillar, use an M8 bolt, and then a small screw in to the rear most of the clip just where your head would be. chilli Posted May 13, 2006 Author Share Posted May 13, 2006 thanks guys yes they do seem a bit short which is a shame because if it were just a touch longer the long thin bit that goes over the door frame would stay in place by the rear trim without any additional screws. that bolt at the top of the a-pilar was the one I was thinking of using. I just went and got some M8 bolts from Focus just as a temp measure until I get some black headed ones and it's not the right size. Looks like M6 or 7 to me. Ho Hum, will go get some more bolts hopefully with black heads tomorrow. mmmm this really simple job has taken longer than I expected lol Edit, think these bolts are M6, maybe you both meant 8mm socket size (AF)? bit confused you both said it, maybe my car is different, anyway will get it sorted tomorrow now Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Posted May 13, 2006 Share Posted May 13, 2006 Hey Chill-ness I can't remember what bolt I used but it also went through the alarm bracket too so looks like it's just holding up the alarm sensor and not the whole thing ! chilli Posted May 14, 2006 Author Share Posted May 14, 2006 hi guys, thanks for all the advice I'm pretty sure those bolt holes are M6 not M8 so I'll pick some black bolts up today and maybe those black bolt covers to make it look neat. Have a glue gun, thought about it, may resort to that if I have to. Thought also about cutting the fittings off the old one. That won't work because they line up with where the pods are - i.e. there is the great big hollow there instead of something to fix them too. I'll let you know how I get on later, will put up a pic when done need to think about what 3rd guage I want now, something useful, not sure yet, any recommendations? got to take the other half out to the shops now, will get on it this avo and get it all sorted. thanks again Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
chilli Posted May 14, 2006 Author Share Posted May 14, 2006 Update, it's fitted It was an M6 (10mm AF), there is a larger hole below the one I used but I didn't think it was threaded, wonder if that's what you guys used? Anyway I'm happy, the smaller the better for the bolt head. Also managed to get the rear part to go under the top of the oem b-pillar trim panel, so the whole thing is securely in place with just one bolt there is a little gap at the bottom of the a-pillar, shame the hole thing isn't about 1cm longer, am happy though, only notice if you look for it really.
