Sharpie
I have read that some of you have used a high temp clear lacquer when refurbing your calipers but, I have not seen a specific type (make/model) mentioned by anyone - people just tend to refer to it as high temp lacquer . I have searched Halfrauds and the web and can not find a high temp clear lacquer to go over the decals. There is lots of high temp paint but, not a clear lacquer. I do not want to bead blast my calipers, do a good paint job and apply the decals only to apply a crap lacquer and spoil the whole job or it peel after a couple of weeks due to the heat. This is all I can find at the mo but, I do not want to use it. Can you help ?
Steve Cargill
I've got an unused can I bought off Gav last year. He got a load of them specifically for doing the brakes but I didn't get the time to apply it. I'll have a look when I get home tonight and get the info for you. far
I never put any lacquer on mine and 3 months later they are still fine and clean after 2 months of winter too. I do clean them through my rims regularly though so I suppose this helps.
Sharpie
Thanks Steve, the calipers will be off the car so, I have time to put some on. Far, I was thinking that if I can not get any then I would just have to ride without, sounds like this is OK However, given the choice, I'd like to apply the lacquer to seal everything in. Paul Laing
What i did on my last car (Supra NA) was after i painted the brakes red and stuck the Supra stickers on, i went over the sticker on each brake with clear nail varnish!!! Works just aswell and was free as i nicked my mams! lol The paint was the folia tec stuff so it was pretty glossy anyway so i just went over the sticker to seal it a bit. Worked a treat!!
