osso
Where can i get hold of a set of spark plugs asap? ie tomorrow morning! my car is miss firing badly and need to get hold of a spare set of spark plugs and quickly change them all.. I've no idea what kinda plugs to get either, my supra is completely standard.. someone mentioned Denso IK24's on another thread, but where can you get these from on short notice? can anyone suggest any alternatives? dont care if they are cheap providing they will last at least 6000 miles until i get some good quality ones.. is there anything that i need to be made aware off when buying spark plugs? like gapping? platinum tips? osso
I've got home start with RAC, think they could help in replacing the plugs? cuz i've no transport to get the spark plugs and my car is more less undrivable in the condition that its in at the moment
Matt Harwood
James, get some NGK BKR7E. They're cheap enough but can handle BPU easily enough. Should be easier to get hold of too. Stock gapping is 1.1mm, BPU is 0.85 (higher boost/cat removal requires the smaller gap). As for the RAC... Highly unlikely, I'd have thought. osso
if i get NGK BKR7E, does that mean i will need to gap them to 1.1mm or are they pregapped?
osso
well RAC will be here within the next hour, have to see what happens when they get here.. i asked if they would change sparkplugs and they said they would if they have the part in the van.. good thing i know 4 local auto parts companies including partco in the immediate area

osso
dunno about lucky, the RAC bloke was only interested in talking about the wonderful ignition system the supra engine has rather than fixing the bloody thing, told me what i already knew, its a HT spark missfire no really?! osso
Miguel at Newera thinks that the car is misfiring cuz there's a loose hose causing the supra to over fuel and flood the spark plugs preventing some of them from igniting
Matt Harwood
If that was the case, I'm fairly sure you'd see black smoke coming out of the exhaust... I've had blown off hoses before and it only really misfires at low rpm or idle, although it doesn't pull properly at higher rpm, I wouldn't describe it as a misfire... osso
It definitely sounds like a misfire, but i agree you should see black smoke coming out of the exhaust, and you should smell the fuel.. sod it, its out of my hands now, i'm waiting for the recovery truck to pick the car up, it would be here any minute then its going to folkstone back to newera's uk agents motormall.. osso
problem found.. one of the spark plugs had a gap which has completely closed up. the mechanic at motor mall told me that he hasn't seen spark plugs brands like the ones in my supra before and they had twin electrodes... they are investigating why the plug closed up, probably cuz the plugs were not up for the job, but having said that all the other spark plugs were fine... they have also done a compression test and all the cylinders are within their tolerances now gotta figure out whats up with the air con..
