michael
Quick general one - is it possible to buy sheets of gasket material and some kind of cutting set to make your own? It's likely that I'm going to need a load of non-standard ones at some point in the future so I'm trying to do some research in advance Failing this is there a trusted company that specialises in lots of different types and sizes? garethr
http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8318 Put the gasket on the part and use a ball bearing or domed nut and a hammer to cut stud holes.
michael
Bump - any other suggestions for some way of making gaskets for bespoke parts that get very hot?
TLicense
I'd be interested in knowing this too. I think what Michael and I are both wanting to know is, is there a way of making the kind of thin metallic gaskets that go between a wastegate and the turbo manifold for example? Would using something like a steel shim/spring steel be sufficient?

michael
What about a company like this? http://www.gpwaterjet.co.uk They seem to be able to cut laminated or foil graphite gaskets from .2mm to 3mm - it says they can do one off applications too. I guess you could roll up with the parts and get them to draw them up on CAD so the waterjet can cut them out.
TLicense
Good find! I can do the cad work no problems. Luckily the gaskets I need should be arriving within the next week or so, but if I have any problems, I may well give these people a call. If you use them michael, let us know how you get on!
