In-line catylist octane booster

Does anyone know anything about these. I bought it a year ago but have never fitted it. Have I been riped off. Do they really work?

Apparently you can use normal unleaded petrol and the octane booster in the unit acts as an addative. Ive put it up for sale on ebay but if any of you have had experience of these really working then ill end the auction and have it fitted.

Funnily enough I had a friend who had consistently positive results with this thing.

So much so that he went off and fitted a second one in series. He swears he would get 30 extra miles out the tank, when used with regular unleaded. With SUL he'd get these extra miles as well (it was a high-compression 3.0 v6)

I can't comment on the effect it has on octane, but it *may* affect the way fuel decomposes as it ages. I wouldn't say it's a rip-off like most other "wonders in a bottle" but wouldn't say it definately works either.

Needs a controlled test to say for sure.

I would NEVER use low-octane fuel on a turbo car, no matter what.

It's madness.

You have to avoid going on-boost if the fuel is suspect. UKSpec cars (stock) can handle abuse with 95RON

Use this gizmo only as a novelty item, in addition to anything else. If ask them directly about the 'octane' claims they refuse to give a straight answer. I've tried more than once, so take that claim with a pinch of salt. (they attend some car shows so you can ask them yourself perhaps)

Still I suspect that the gizmo might do *something* beneficial, I even have a sachet in my bike's tank. No controlled test yet though, I use the bike too infrequently for that.
