annan
I know that this topic has been covered before but can't seem to find an answer concerning my query which is: have a j spec auto with working 3rd high level brake light. This week all the leds in it have packed in. From previous threads I got the impression that when the leds went they went one at a time not all at once. My brake light failure light came on and alerted me to the problem. Now is there a fuse that specifically controls this light if so where is it and what is its label? Could it be a loose connection to the unit - if so how do I get that plastic cover off the tailgate without breaking it or my fingers Thanks
paul ashton
Good question,i tried unsucessfully to take it off and stopped before it broke.
SupraHuman
I had the stock tail lights fitted for 3 years and the high level brake light never worked.i thought it was a dummy light. Then I bought facelift tail lights and now it stays on all the time,go figure. Supra ST Myster
the plastic bit just pulls off, just be careful when doing it, it is held on by strong clips so when pulling it off pull it as near to the clip so you are not putting any pressure on the plastic as it will break, then you need a deep socket, think its 10mm, two bolts and it will come off.. when the LED goes they normally go in a group of 4 as there are 11 groups of 4 that make the whole light and its one resistor per 4. Just check there is +12V going there first when you get the cover off the boot, think you just need to unplug it.
