peter richards
hi guys and gals, i havnt had a toyota dealership in swansea for ages . but one of the other big companies in the area has started a franchise. so i went in to see what the score is on a service. as its been a year since the last one .and only done 5k . for an A service which is oil filter , drain plug , and oil .they quoted me £130. when i asked how they came to that figure he said its the labour charge mate, with a smug grin . so now i am not sure about going there just for the sake of keeping my service record stamped by toyota. what do you guys think cheers peter . toyotasuprauk
£130 for an oil change! Kwik-fit do a mobile one oil change and filter for £34 I know its kwit-fit and I don't know if they are any good, but for comparison purposes its essentially the same job, labour wise etc. http://www.kwik-fit.com/
Digsy
The A service is not "just an oil change". There are several checks and tests that need to be performed as well. If you look in your service book you will see these itemised. Now of course its up to you whether you believe that: (a) these checks are warranted; (b) they actually take the time that they charge you for, or © the technician actually does the checks at all, but £130 is a fairly standard price for a franchised dealer A service. I'm not trying to justify it, but that's how it is with Toyota main dealers.
ad500
The toyota franchise near me charges £80 plus vat for 1 hours labour. Not worth it IMO to get a toyota stamp in the service book. Id rather have a specialists stamp and pay £40 plus vat.
ad500
Having rung around a few of them a year back to try and sort something out it appeared that £80 plus Vat was the norm.
peter richards
hi darren. point taken thanks . the other problem is the old franchise was peugeot. when i called in yesterday i walked through the workshop all the cars on the lifts were of the french sort. idont know if these guys have ever seen a supra never mind work on one .and i dont want them practising on mine. cheers peter . If the labour rate per hour is £80 odd quid then i guess with the parts £130 is going to be about right for toyota. i doubt it will take the full hour but they always allow that as a minimum job time. if it takes 45 minutes it will allow the spanner monkey 15 minutes to hoon your car around town and do a few dougnuts in tesco's carpark. All part of an "A service" apparantly;)

Yeah, I live and work near aberystwyth. I get down your way on business quite often. I like it here in Welsh Wales - twisty roads, no traffic jams, no Gatsos and surf. I was gutted to see Wales go out, I really wanted them to get through. They bottled it TBH, not enough top level, experienced players.
peter richards
hit the nail on the head there m8 very disapointing just seemed to lack any decent ideas . i and all of wales was puzzled that ernshaw wasnt included at the start . 72nd minute was to late . he should of been up front with big john , as it was the russian marked him out of the game . never mind we might qualify for something before i die
