steve spedd
sounds like the release bearing has started to go... have the same noise on my car but trying to hold out until i need a new clutch. Not an expensive part (23-35ish) but u quite labour intensive… Hope that helps!!
Taylor
it aint long had a new clutch about 8 months ago. how much would labour be?
steve spedd
that im not totally sure on, im sure some of the other guys on here will know more. but basicaly they have to take the gear box out to replace it. so im guessing a similar price or a bit less than what u paid to have the new clutch replaced... Whitesupraboy2
If you bought a clutch kit then the release bearing i think coems with it (im sure it did with mine) I have the noise your on about on my NA too. Only had new clutch a few months back. It comes and goes the noise, im not worried it drives fine
steve spedd
you now know why im waiting for my clutch to go! dont think it causes problems until it goes. the main thing is its fu**ing annoying!! sorry i cant be of any more help!!
tbourner
Does the pedal vibrate when you're driving - as if there's no 'play' area at the top of the travel? Clutch (or related) change costs around £150 depending on where you go.
bromy
sod that then!!! i will wait!!! it wont cause any probs will it?? No, you should be fine.. had the same with my NA, new clutch kit and few months later noisy release bearing, been like that for around 2 years now
Taylor
cheers fellas! the clutch was done b4 i bought it, but i have the reciept that shows it was done bout last summer. quick question... if i am in netruel and i put my foot a little on the clutch to stop the noise, will this cause any damage? Whitesupraboy2
either put your foot on clutch fully or not at all, a little bit will wear out your clutch and the extra heat may cause heat spots on flywheel meaning you'll need that to be replaced as it will be equivalant of slipping. So in answer no i dont suggest it!
