MrRalphMan
What NetGear router do you have? I have one, but don't think that you can restrict bandwidth to sites/users.. You can block sites though. Have a look through your Web GUI. Paul.
Guest gzaerojon
i have a wgt624 108 mbps wireless router. blocking sites is no problem, but the download site is actually a program, but im not familiar with it, or how it works. i'd be happy just to restrict his bandwidth
terawua
this is possible.. the guy I used to live with had restricted all of ours and his was flying along- git!
DamanC
you have to block the bearshare port number, by default this is 6346 As far as im aware netgear dont produce a router, to the public, that allow you to bandwith throttle (restrict his bandwidth) so blocking the port is the only option. Yep, I had the same router, as I upgraded from the 824m. I even did the cooling fans mod to the 624 and it still dropped the connection every 5 minutes. Gone back to the 824m as I only really need the internet, not networking, so it is still fast enough, and does not drop any line, ever. All Netgears recent stuff sufferes from the line dropping. Well worth looking at 3com and any other manufacturer instead.
