paul mac Posted March 9, 2006 Share Posted March 9, 2006 the egt probe should be as near to the piston as possible so this means mounting in the manifold tight up to the head, if its in the downpipe its a long way from where it should be, as for how far it should project mine is about 5mm in number six manifold runner, you dont want it to project to far otherwise you run the risk of it vibrating and snapping, i got mine cheap but if i had to do it again i would'nt bother with the egt and save up for a wideband Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tricky-Ricky Posted March 9, 2006 Share Posted March 9, 2006 Going to fit my Redline EGT gauge soon, but i'm going to put it just downstream of the turbos, i had it in my Silvia before the turbo but heard to many stories about them breaking and taking out the turbo so i moved it, found that in that position it would read 180 deg cooler so not to hard to work out.
