exhaust temp probe

the egt probe should be as near to the piston as possible so this means mounting in the manifold tight up to the head, if its in the downpipe its a long way from where it should be, as for how far it should project mine is about 5mm in number six manifold runner, you dont want it to project to far otherwise you run the risk of it vibrating and snapping, i got mine cheap but if i had to do it again i would'nt bother with the egt and save up for a wideband

Going to fit my Redline EGT gauge soon, but i'm going to put it just downstream of the turbos, i had it in my Silvia before the turbo but heard to many stories about them breaking and taking out the turbo so i moved it, found that in that position it would read 180 deg cooler so not to hard to work out.

if i had to take the mani off again, i will shit myself !

its staying where it is, will work on 180 deg theory

That was on my silvia, so it would be a good idea to ask a couple of people who have them fitted in the right place just what there temp range is, as i dare say it will be different on a Supra.

i9 know of several people who have fitted it in the manifold.. and they too lost the tips and killed the turbo.. so for that reason i fitted it directly after the turbo.

Which is fine but you would need to add approx 10% to the readout to get a closer acurate number. :search:

i have heard of this and for that reason i am seriously thinking of taking mine off completely, for what it does i dont think its worth the risk of writing the turbo off
