Andrew
Hi all, just a quick question. Where does the restrictor ring go on the exhaust? Top of the down pipe or the connection to the mid pipe? Thanks Andrew
Justin
I put mine at the rear most joint in the exhaust. It's easy to jack up the rear and fit yourself. Also to get to when your filing out the plate to get optimum boost pressure.:flame Dev
SkyJawa
Theres been a few threads on this recently I know - I started them A search on restrictor ring will pull them all up, but as Justin said, CW said they can go in either location, the rear is the easiest IMHO and furthest away from the engine for heat build up. Andrew
Thanks guys. Just read your post Neil, I was hitting the same as you 1.4 bar, did it this morning and decided it must be time to fit the restrictor To be honest, 1.1 bar to 1.4 bar doesn't feel like it's much faster, so I'll be happy if it drops back to 1.1 bar. SkyJawa
To be honest mate, my restrictor dropped it down to 0.95 peak and having been driving at 1.2 in the summer until it started to creap up it felt reeeeaaaalllllyyyy slow!!!!! 0.95 isn't much above standard! Still, I whipped it out and enlarged the hole by about 2mm at Chris's recommendation and now its hitting 1.1 peak which is fine on the JSpec fuel system/pump! Feels much better now too Its definately a lot faster than 0.95! Still be nice to be faster though - I feel a pump and regulator on the cards and a boost controller, then FMIC blah blah blah just need to get the money from somewhere LOL! Andrew
Was a bit jammy Power wise it feels the same as 1.4 bar, if there is more power I can't notice the difference. Running up to 1.3 bar was fine, but when it started to creep to 1.4 I started getting missfires, and it ran like a pig. Was going to re-gap the plugs, but that's just hidding the problem to be honest Anyway I can run it harder now, without worrying too much. Like you Neil I was considering changing the fueling and adding an FMIC, but I think the only way you are going to go faster is with a large Single or Big Twins. SkyJawa
I think if I ever got enough money I'd go with a small/medium single, fueling and FMIC - 500-550bhp tops and spool up by 3.5k would be nice, anything else would be a bit pointless and undriveable on our roads, or the roads round here anyway!!
