c0c4in3
Hey there... Just took some pictures. Is the amount of rust okay for a 93 UK-Spec? How to remove that rust and make it look okay? Thanks... http://www.directupload.net/images/060225/temp/BSb8hugs.jpghttp://www.directupload.net/images/060225/temp/IW2WLI7L.jpghttp://www.directupload.net/images/060225/temp/EbVaza4k.jpghttp://www.directupload.net/images/060225/temp/xtcIeN8A.jpg
uk-rich
you can't really remove it, unless you have money to burn !! a good heavy coat of black underseal will do the trick
c0c4in3
but that's okay, isn't it? If I look under the J-Spec I currently have here, it's amazing. nearly no rust...
chilli
ouch yeah that's worth treating now to slow it's progress. I'd wire brush it down, maybe slap some rust treatment on the worst bits and then a good dose of underseal should hold back the elements for a while. Do you live near the sea or something? c0c4in3
I don't live close to a sea. But the previous owner did. Is there any company that offer something like this? Rust removal or any other service like that? Thanks.

chilli
why not do it yourself, get under there, prod around and see whats what, most of it (maybe all of it) is probably just surface rust on otherwise solid parts so they need paint/underseal to keep it at bay. Obviously if you find holes then replace those parts (hopefully you will find none). I'd also be tempted to slap some oil / grease on those rusted nuts and bolts so that you might stand a chance of getting them appart should you need too... Paul
Hi Oliver, mine was had slight rust underneath not as bad as that but I don't think you have any problem seeing those pics. As people have said you need to just wire brush it well and get off the loose rust then the best thing to do is use 'Waxoyl'. Brush it on getting into all the corners. I had mine done last year, much better than underseal as it won't cover all the bolts in crap should you need to get to them. Paul
chilli
good idea, waxoyl is good stuff, I wouldn't mind doing mine sometime - no rust yet but I'd like to keep it that way while I can.
Paul
It may need doing a bit more often but as I said it causes less problems than underseal with bolts etc. and won't risk trapping moisture. I paid Phoenix to do it as they could get at it easier on the ramp, think it was 1hrs labour and a few quid for the Waxoyl, well worth the money. People often neglect the underneath because they aren't looking at it daily. Paul
