Guest Terry S
Could one of you guys with a VVTi do me a favour and measure the internal diameter of the VVTi air flow meter please. It's the bit of pipe with a box on it after the air filter;)

Nick
There's two pipes both the same size at the top of the intake near the lump coming out of a back box which also has an electrical plug on it. Internal diameter is 6mm.
paulrenn
6mm?????? Do you mean 60 mm (commonly known in the trade as 6 centimeters ?)
Guest Terry S
Cheers Nick, must be 60mm. Anyone know what a UK measures inside? Paul, back to your GT4 days, did you ever find a source of bigger dia. JDM MAF's?

Guest Terry S
I think it's pretty thick Rubber/plastic though, so probably similar.
Nick
Nope, 6mm which means I'm most probably looking at the wrong pipe... The pipe I'm looking at is the first pipe I could see after the airfilter, black and connects to a black metal pipe towards the back of the engine bay. I'll stay out of this, ask someone that knows what they're looking at...
Guest Terry S
Nick there is a 3" ish pipe from the filter to the turbo's. in the middle there will be a metal bit of pipe with a box on. This is your air flow meter. That is what I was after. Cheers.
Nick
I'll try and have another look after work. Take it this pipe is still used with the HKS Intake...?

paulrenn
Paul, back to your GT4 days, did you ever find a source of bigger dia. JDM MAF's? Personally not as I went for a Motec and got rid of that crap...but I know a few people still who I believe did find an alternative (if I remember it was from a Lexus...?) I'll get back to you. paulrenn
On the gt4 list someone posted a link to http://www.splitsec.com/ who do an AFM replacement kit. Another guy also suggested 2nd Gen RX7 AFM was a direct replacement, but not sure how much bigger it is. I could also be remembering that the Supra MKIII AFM fitted... I'll drop more info Terry if/when I get any.

Guest Terry S
Thanks Guys. I believe that TRL/Thor are going to be looking more closely at the GReddy E-Manage. I have spent the last two days reading up on it and it doesn't seem too bad. If Pete can get the thing working correctly, and he has the facilities up there to tune them with his Dynapack, it will be an excellent option, especially for those with MAFs, as you can just plug in a MAP sensor to it. It will obviously never be as comprehensive as a full standalone, but looks a good midway point, and you will always have the security of the stock map to fall back on. Guest Terry S
There's me trying to add so decent Tech input and you trying to drag it down to your 60's throw back level. Anyway, no Dude, I got my 5 year old to read it to me, that's why it took 2 days, it's only 3 pages long really. Do you really want me to tell the world you bought the F&F DVD and sit there at home freeze framing the shots of the cars, then calling me with a description of the parts:innocent:
