Getting contacts from one phone to another

I have just purchased one of these:

http://www.my-xda.com/xdaminis_spec.html

and have a slight problem. My current phone, a Sharp GX30 has two contact locations - the handset and the SIM. Like a numpty, I have saved most of my contacts to the handset and the Sharp (as far as I can see), does not allow you to transfer from the handset to the Sim but will allow the other way.

Do you know of any way to transfer the hand set contacts to the sim or to my new XDA?

Colin, assuming that the Sharp supports IR or BT. Can you bluetooth them ? Or send them over by Infra-Red ?

The nasty thing with that is you'd have to do it - 1 contact at a time.

A quicker way would be use the PC software that came with your Sharp and connect the PC & phone with a cable. Then export all your contacts to some file. Now, the interesting bit is if your PDA's PC software can then make sense of the exported file. I'm not sure about that .. you'd have to try it.

Have you enabled the IR on the phone ? With the majority of phones, you have to switch it on. If it were switched on all the time - it would eat your battery.

Yes, done that. Does the bluetooth need to be enabled also? And do i need to do anything to my PC?

This may work .. as I said above. Connect the Sharp & your PC (via cable or BT). Then using the Sharp's PC software export ALL of yours contacts to a single file.

Then connect the PDA to the PC (via cable or BT) and try and import that file.

It may not work as it depends if the PDA's PC software can read the file exported by your Sharp's PC software.

Or - you connect your PDA & your Sharp phone via either IR or BT and then transfer the contacts one at a time.
