tbourner
New thread for same problem! I just checked my plugs. They all looked OK but pots 2 and 3 had a very small gap. What does small gap cause in problem terms? I've regapped to about 30 thou/0.75mm (OK on 1.2bar?), do I need to do an ECU reset after regapping or does it not learn things like that? Guest slow dog
always best to reset after you have messed about under mate so it will start learning from the moment you turn the key mate have you taken the battery off by any chance sometimes you take the battery off they dont idle and need to go out for a good run ? tbourner
No it's been bad idle for a while. Your lad didn't check the gap on my plugs when he fitted them - tut tut, hope that was the problem.
dangerous brain
They should be correct straight out of the box shouldn't they?
bedlam
If the gap in the plug is to small it can cause bad running, and the plugs should all be pre gapped when they come outta the box. You dont need to reset the ecu when you change plugs. But try a reset now and see if that cures your problem. Andy
tbourner
I did try a reset a couple of months ago and it made no difference. NGK plugs should be checked when getting out the box - it's only iridiums that are gapped correctly. This is obviously true as 2 of my plugs were different gap to the other 4!!! bedlam
Well i did say that they SHOULD be pre gapped when they come outa the box..but yes you SHOULD always check the gap before installing infact most on here would have to alter the gap since most run higher boost Andy
tbourner
I'm on 1.2bar or just under. Is 0.75mm about right for that? Pots 2 and 3 must've been less than 0.7 when I took them out!
