garetheves
Gonna put my car on eBay seeing as its a 5p listings day but the big question is do i put it up as an auction with a low starting price and hope it reaches a value i want or just put it up as a Buy-It-Now?? I dont want to put a reserve on it because i think this puts people off bidding. The other option is to put the start price as the absolute minimum i would accept but again there is the risk that the bidding will never build up momentum and it will only get 1 bid and ill have to let it go cheap. Which do you lot reckon is the most successfull?
roboldham
I dont think having a reserve is off-putting on a high value item like a motor - people would pay what it's worth. Think of the reserve as the price you'd be willing to be knocked down to if someone came from Autotrader or similar then you wont be unhappy. suprasport
put it in lower than your minimum get people interested, not morally right but you can always back out of the sale if people are bidding stupid just say its broke down or something, you can cancel bids, there are a lot of ways to protect yourself, your not hurting anyone. roboldham
seems that a lot say "I reserve the right to cancel cos it's adverised elsewhere" R
jamesmark
on the ebay add remember to put the words in big bold writing "THIS CAR IS ADVERTISED ELSEWHERE SO RESERVE THE RIGHT WITHDRAW THE CAR FROM SALE" then your covered as long as you remove the add before the auction ends
suprasport
i am just about to do the same thing on some wheels and springs as i am going to offer them on here as well, if someone on here wants them i will cancel on ebay
garetheves
i would always do put that in the ad but the trouble with ending it early is you never know how many bids you are missing out on by ending early. As al of you know im sure most bidding takes place in the last few minutes and can double the price of the car. Was thinking of putting something like "bid early because if i receive a high offer from elsewhere ill remove it from the auction" would that be justified or not?? jamesmark
very true but its a chance personally i think a reserve is the best option, a price that you would be happy, and say it in the add that you have a reserve that i would be happy but dont tell them what it is or ask them for sensible buy it nows by e mail
garetheves
ask them for sensible buy it nows by e mail Thats a good idea. could couple that with the "bid early...." bit and then at least ive warned them that i will end early. Faye Brother
Gaz, Items listed in the Automotive section (Cars, Classic Cars, etc) are excluded from the 5p listing promotion. http://pages.ebay.co.uk/sell/5pS120106FLD/ Not sure whether eBay would pull your auction if you 'accidently' listed it in Car Accessories/Parts, which does benefit from the 5p promotion.
