Digsy
I was looking around for what phone / PDA to buy next last night (can't actually change for another 6 months but hey ho) and noticed that Voda have binned all their cheap free off peak tariffs in favour of free anytime tariffs that are around £5 per month dearer across the board - especially when you bung the text bundle on top. The handsets seem to be a lot less subsidised too. Most deals are now 18 months rather than 12 as well. I am looking at getting a K-Jam from Phones2uDirect.co.uk A few months ago you could get one for a gnat's under £200 with an 18 month tariff of 250 free texts and 200 free off peak minutes for £15 per month. Now the cheapest you can get this for is £279 for the handset and an 18 month term for £25 per month with only 125 free minutes and no texts! What are Voda trying to do? Price themselves out of the market???
toyotasuprauk
They really are trying hard to get everyone to go into 18 month contracts now.
penguin
orange have started doing a similar thing... if you upgrade your handset, your tied in to a new 18 month contract!.. what a con!
Digsy
I actually don't mind 18 month contracts - in fact I am 12 months into one at the moment. But the main reason I signed up to it was that the resultant handset price and monthly line rental were so goddam cheap, plus you got a sensible amount of free stuff thrown in. The current tarrif range is all the chaff and none of the wheat. I don't get it
