Steve W Posted July 23, 2003 Share Posted July 23, 2003 I ordered a complete gasket set (Engine Overhaul Set) from the local Toyotas... for a JAP SPEC TT. Ordered Saturday. He SAID it would be in ~Tuesday, it's NOW Wednesday and he says it will be arriving ~NEXT Thursday ......from JAPAN ! ! ? ? I DID tell him it should be same as UK model, and gave him MY chassis, and, a 'same year' UK chassis.... does anyone know... WHAT the differences will be in the set ? ? ......just Turbo gaskets (IF they come in it anyway ?) I'm pretty DAMN sure all the 'normal' gaskets (ie. the ones I want for a Head-Job) should be identical ! ! ? ? IF he's ordered a Jap' set (the only reason I can think of for it to come from JAPAN ? ?) then I'll MAKE him order a UK set (as I told him in the FIRST place ! !) OR, is there a MAJOR difference ? ? ? ? FatS. (I HAVE actually bought a pattern set - to have EXTRA gaskets/seals available...and both Jap' and UK have SAME pattern set ! ! BUT, I really wanted to use Toyota if possible - even though they MAY be from same manufacturer anyhow:sly: ) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

(I can believe they haven't got a JAP set in though:conf: that's why I'll be pissed if they're the same and I'm just waiting another week for the same bits ! ! !) I can't think of any gaskets/seals that are different on the 2 engines ? ( maybe the 'extra' EGR valve ones on a UK ? ? - and the turbos, as I said before ? ? ) [anyway.... Steve Cargill Posted July 24, 2003 Share Posted July 24, 2003 Steve, they are pretty much the same, my last two rebuilds have used the UK set, I think there are just a few EGR and a couple of other bits left over. Leon has kept hold of the bits he doesn't use so I'm not exactly sure what was left over. I'm pretty certain that the UK set is 04111-46094. Re timings, they had a hub in Europe which takes 3-5 days for bits to come in from. If it's from Japan it is more like 2 weeks. I ordered new head bolts, same part as the UK one and they had 8 in stock, the remaining 6 took about 2 weeks to come it. What use is 8!!!!
