si wants supra Posted December 9, 2005 Share Posted December 9, 2005 Hey guys, now sorry if this is a dumb ass question but when my car is warm the boost gauege is sitting sligtly below 20 inhg about 21, 22. What would cause this have I got a leaky air intake somewhere, or a crap boost gauge. The gent who owned the car before me put a cheap splitfire gauge now I dont know much about these, so if anyone can enlighten me it would be much appreciated. Thamks for taking the time to read. Class One Posted December 9, 2005 Share Posted December 9, 2005 What do you expect it to sit at when warm and on idle? When the engine is idling, there is no load on it and you should be getting a vacuum reading which you are. Sounds about right to me if you have an imperial gauge (psi boost). Si 30in hg ~ 1 bar So you're having 2/3 of a bar vacuum with the throttle shut, which is normal. If you had less vacuum, then you'd suspect a leak. Si I have a splitfire gauge in mine...does the job mate.....If I go single in the future, which I know I will, i will prob change these for a cluster of gauge's so I can monitor things more closely, but for now im basically stock so its really just there to keep an eye on things imo mechanical gauge's are just as good as electrical but lack some desirable features Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
