Benzsupra
Hi all, have just got my EPIA MII10000 motherboard, am trying to install XP but after copying the initial setup files, when it tries to start setup the screen changes to this every time "STOP: c0000221 unknown hard error \SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll" I know this copy of XP works as i have just installed it on my other system, and all went fine. the HDD i'm using come from the system i just installed it on so i know the HDD is ok. Basically i'm changing the HDD from one motherboard to another and doing a fresh install. Any ideas???????
Gamer
This MSN article covers your Stop Error: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314474&sd=RMVP To resolve this problem, obtain a new copy of the corrupted file or reinstall Windows XP. If you continue to receive any one of the error messages that are described in the "Summary" section after you reinstall Windows XP, a hardware problem or a network problem may exist. .......................................... I would try to do a complete (full) reformat of the Hard drive before installing windows.
geoffvalenti
Here's a few links that may be of some use. Normally problems like this, with a new install, are caused by incorrect BIOS settings. Personally the first thing I'd do is set the BIOS to setup defaults, or whatever they may call it in your particular BIOS. Basically it means the slowest settings, but the ones most likely to make the system stable. Make sure you haven't got any Boot sector protection switched on in the BIOS. Try re-installing WinXP but delete the partition and quick format it to ensure you start from a clean base. If that doesn't work, you'll need to go onto the motherboard manufacturers site, to see if there is an updated BIOS available. Download it and flash it to the motherboard (carefully) and see if that makes a difference http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q314474 http://www.anetforums.com/posts.aspx?ThreadIndex=25949 http://aumha.org/win5/kbestop.php
