Paul Laing
I'm thinking about replacing my clutch with a RPS Max Series clutch for my N/A Supra for when i get the NOS on it. Is this a good clutch? Also would fitting a lightened flywheel make the performance any better or not noticable? Cheers Paul

Paul Laing
Paul Whiffin can get me one for £390 but thats for the Max Series version which is the better one and can handle lots of NOS. How do you mean by a nightmare??? Paul
TRD3000GT
My old -- new setup ,,,?? was a Ferdanza FW an RPS max 6 Puck sprung unit and an RPS pressure plate a bit extreme and franky shit to drive.. cost near 1K and has cost me near 1K to put right! All together quite a frightening process. wont do that again
Paul Laing
1k? You can get a new clutch for £
Adam W
Buy the "weakest" clutch you can get away with for your state of tune. The more power the clutch can handle, the worse it will be to drive, it's one of those unavoidable trade offs. Putting, say, a 600bhp clutch on a 400bhp car wil give no performance advantages apart from improving your vocabulary of swear words and doubling the size of your left leg; you car will go no faster but you will be able to run very quickly in a clockwise circle. eyefi
the wrong clutch is one of the easiest ways to make u not like yr car anymore. the added benefit of a high perf clutch is u get really good at starting yr car quickly at junctions and appologising to other road users. mines a full kevlar, love it. Adam W
Yep, I've got full-face Kevlar in mine and it's very driveable. Stay away from the 4/6 puck designs as much as possible. I spent more time researching clutches for my car than on any other aspect of my project!
Paul Laing
I need a good strong clutch though to handle 100bhp NOS
Paul Laing
Can anyone recommend a clutch then for my N/A Supra? It needs to be tough to handle the Nitrous
Big Lad
if you use a progressive controller on the Nitrous as you'll be able to feed the power in slowly without that 100bhp slam which will knacker the clutch and pretty much everything attached to it using a Progressive = more power and less shock on the drivetrain meaning you'll probably be able to get away with a lower capability clutch
Matt Harwood
What about a stock TT clutch? - May need a TT flywheel too, but they can handle around 400 bhp easy enough and have no drivability issues. I have no idea if it's possible, but can't see why it wouldn't work...
Paul Laing
the sqeeking on the clutch has dramatically reduced and theres no slipping of the standard clutch so i guess i could keep that one in and try it with a progressive unit. I think the release bearing has gone in the clutch though. Can't wait to see what my cars like with 340bhp. It's fast enough as it is.......well not quite
