Mike
I don't get 'the floyd'.... I was forced to listen to it in my student days... well, "The Wall".. which I've been told isn't the best place to start... but all seemed a bit too serious to me... whats the appeal? peter richards
mmm the wall has some class tracks on it , but takes some time to get into . any live performace of floyd is a good start , dsotm all time classic album, the division bell, released ten years ago now , another good record the appeal is top quality guitaring , timeless music
Mike
that’s what I heard 'very' technical guitar... never heard dsotm... in all my student years I still can't believe it...?! is it advisable to arm myself with some kind of illegal substance before listening? Gordon F
aussie floyd are back in the uk next year, booked my tickets for cia cardiff 8 th april. saw them last year they were brilliant . you wont be dissapointed if your a floyd fan Went to see them this year in Norwich. Left at the interval. Having seen the real thing it just didn't do it for me. Just my opinion though, plenty of other people there seemed to be having a good time. JohnA
I've seen them live about 15years ago and they were a letdown (for me!) Without Waters it's not PF anyway. They would be an 'acquired' taste for someone listening to them nowadays for the first time. They're out of social context. When I first listened to the DSOTM I was fifteen and I was in awe. But that was the seventies, lol... I've got it now in the 5.1 remaster and it's AWESOME. Best SACD money can buy.

peter richards
i think so , gordon didnt like their show , but hes seen pink floyd live so the comparison is obviously going to be differant . musically they are good , and their shows are getting bigger and better
Mike
slightly different but I saw 'The real stone roses' (or whatever their called?) a few years back... a Stone Roses tribute act... and they were musically not bad... but they came out wearing the same clothes...?! and the lead singer did that monkey dance that Ian Brown did (or does?)... I found it incredibly annoying and had to leave... since then I've steered clear of tribute bands... especially if you’ve seen the original... if you love a band so much, and then these people come out 'acting' like them... it's horrible... your mind is kind of getting into it but your head is saying 'your being cheated'... and then I think why bother..? see something original? sorry I'm ranting inanely... ahem…. but do you know what I mean..? if you take it as seriously as I clearly do (not sure why?!) it can be a bit upsetting..!!
