106 Vs GTO

Ok now I could be wrong on this one... but I SERIOUSLY doubt I am.

I'm having an argument with a lad at the mo on the net (yes I know it's not big OR clever). He owns a 106 Rallye. He claims that stock for stock, the 106 is an all round faster car than a GTO twin turbo. I insist he's talking bollocks! Should I go back and eat hunble pie... or keep taking the mick?:blahblah:

My J spec 1996 GTO TT 6spd with just an aftermarket cat back system produced 308 BHP on a Dyno...... Although, given the 4X4 transmition, NASA electronics, tea maker, butler, James bond spoilers, etc, etc, i think only about 15BHP ever got to the road :rlol:

It ended life at a healthy 435BHP......... by getting T-Boned by a drunk woman in a Focus from a junction on the other side of the road..... Given the GTO weighs a HUGE amount she hit me so hard it spun the GTO completely round in a circle.

RIP.... Was a lovely car and didnt blow up once :violin:

As for the Pug 106 boy !!!!!! :limp: Get real !

like i asked before though, guys.......

what about a 306 Rallye against and N/A Supe?

That would be very close. The Rallye is a stripped and lighter GTi-6 and does under 7 secs to 60. They also handle incredibly well, would be down to the driver.......

I think he has got a little muddled up.

There is a Jemery Clarkson video where they put a 106 against a GTO, Golf GTI and various other cars like skylines etc but it was to do with fun driving and handling and the 106 one purely for its fun factor.

The driving was done by Clarkson and a rally driver and BTC driver, they all came to the conclusion that the 106 handled best, think the qoute was its a car you would steel from your daughter to play with.

:)

Had nothing to do with speed as all the other cars completly trounced it :)
