Parksy
My N/A is pretty standard in that when I turn her over the revs are at about 2k and slowly drop over a minute or two until it idles at around 800revs. However when giving the car a clean today I noticed that when I turn the steering wheel, the revs go up to about 1000/1100 then drop straight away as soon as I stop turning the wheel. Isn't doing any harm I don't think? Just wondered if this was normal behaviour?

Steve
Totally normal mate. When you turn the wheel the PAS pump kicks in, so the revs increase to stop the car from stalling.

Steve W
It's just that you're probably used to smaller/cheaper cars where the revs AREN'T raised for the PAS (or the A/C !) Try doing the same in a Fiesta for instance. The A/C can make it VERY hard to pull away ! ! 'cos the revs are too low.
