Parksy
Car I'm thinking of buying was examined for me today. One thing picked up was low power steering fluid. The guy who owns it (has had it since import about 14 months) says he has never thought to check it so didn't realise. The guy examining the car could see no leaks and could see nothing wrong with the steering rack,. The car also had no whirring/shudders or anything when driving it. Basically the car drove 100% as it should. Is there anything to worry about with the fluid being low? Just I have owned many a car with power steering fluid, and although I have checked them I have never had the need to even top up any of them? Just wondering if this could be the sign of an underlying fault? Any help appreciated.
JohnA
Maybe the steering rack leaks slightly, maybe one of the PAS pipes leaks, maybe it's nothing to worry about once you refill it. You won't really know until a few weeks later when you check the PAS level again...
