Digsy
I'm talking about the long pre-formed ones that run from front to back inside the plastic channel thingy. These were flagged up as something to keep an eye on at my last MOT. I got under the car today and they are starting to show signs of corrosion. No where near enough to be a falure yet, though. I brushed the white flaky stiff off the surface and gave them a good coating of spray grease (the white stuff in a can). Hopefuly that will protect them for the time being. Has anyone ever managed to change these without dropping the exhaust or rear subframe? Just in case the worst comes to the worst come next MOT time. Although they are pre-formed they must be pretty bendy. I was wondering whether you could route them around the subframe and then lift the straight bit up into the channel clips. JohnK
Helped my mate replace his on his astra, he replaced the steel ones with plastic, came in a coil and we had to form it as we went using a blow torch. Once it cooled (a few secs) it held its shape. Was quite easy to get it around all the bends.
DShox
I changed mine on the front on a different car (and I'm not telling what that is!). I simply took my old ones to a garage whilst keeping the overall shape and they charged about £12 each for a nice new shiney one. Dunno about the routing, but make sure there are no major and too many kinks if you choose to.
