Ebay short shifters.

Ive always hated my gear knob which I think is a veilside one.

So I was going to purchase a new one. The trouble is I can't get the old one off I think the previous owner has lock tight'ed it on. It spins a few turns and then locks solid. There are no grub screws I can see holding it in place so ive given up.

 

I have the whole assembly out including the gear box due to my engine rebuild.

 

My question is has any one used the aluminium short shifters off ebay? As I may as well replace the lot seeing as I cant get the knob off. And are they any good. I don't want to buy any junk.

 

Any help would be great.
