Long Way Round - Twin Turbo help pse

So I watched Fast & Furious, bought the video, bought the car. 94 Aerodeck normally aspirated auto. First thing changed the auto box to 5 speed manual..but then it was the wheels, going up to 19" Rials, then I happened across a Brit spec car in a breakers, had to have those Brit spec brakes, ummm getting some grooved disks made them look pretty too...to get mean looking I put konis all round, lowered it a bit and bolted on a Paul Whiffin chin spoiler. Easy so far. Whacked in Sat Nav, TV/DVD/MP3, 1200W music, leather interior, carbon dash, Momo wheel and the inside is tidyish (okay, fair shout, baby seat in the front isn't the coolest).

("Help" bit coming up soon...) Nipped back to that breakers yard, left with a mightily mangled TT engine, 6 speed manual and the LS Diff. Thought I'd get into doing the engine rebuild when my N/A gave up the ghost...I encouraged its end by travelling 70K hard miles without doing a damn thing to it...no oil, no cam belt, plugs, nothing...would it blow up? Would it hell! So now I'm doing the engine, couldn't wait forever.

("Help" is in this bit...promise) Original turbos sent to Turbo Dynamics for rebuild (done), big front mount intercooler (had made), cat bypass pipes and NUR spec exhaust (bought). Engine superficially stripped and bolted back up (head off etc), turbos and imlet all back on today. Just joined this forum today, first thing I see is an article about extra bits you need to bolt on if you're putting on bypass pipes. SO (1) what are all these bits, should I do these mods before putting engine back in car- ie next few days (2) what extra gauges do I need in the car (boost? oil pressure, oil temp? where do their sensors fit on the engine? again, another job pre-engine install?) (3) Best place for a clutch..main dealer? (4) Any other tips before I sling this beasty back into the car over the next few days? Anyone wanna come laugh at it over a cup of tea, welcome, I'm just off J9 M27 between Southampton and Portsmouth.

Cheers guys. (Apologises...Future posts won't ever be so long - gen dit)

Ok, lots of questions. I'll attempt to answer what I can with the bit of knowledge I've gained from this site. Other's will be able to clarify and correct as necessary. You've definitely come to the right place. Unfortunately, I can't just drive over and help. I live in Germany. The "search" button (above to the right of "new posts") is your best friend. You can find out almost anything by putting one or two specific words in for what you're looking for. Chances are, no matter what you want to know about, somebody before you has answered your question. Here's a start of what the 20 pound brain types on this site will need to know to help you:

Are the original NA and donor TT cars UK spec or Jspec?

Did you transplant the "mangled TT + 6spd" post build-up?

Is the stock NA fuel pump still in the car? Walbro makes a nice replacement. The folks in the traders section can help with this and almost everything else you need.

Do you have the wiring harness from the TT donor car?

Did your Decat pipes come with a restrictor ring? You'll need one to keep from destroying your turbos.

Do you have a boost gauge installed? If not, get one (preferably electronicly actuated) Along with this, if you're running Jspec turbos, and removing both cats, you're going to want to monitor your EGTs with a gauge.

Which ECU is in the car? If you've transplanted the TT + 6 speed, you'll need that car's ECU.

Hope this helps you out dude. Welcome to the site.

Good start, thanks mate. My car is Jap spec. The soon to be installed engine/turbos/gearbox etc is British spec, its not yet been in my car. I have the engine wiring loom from the Brit spec car, its fuel pump, igniter, ECU, took it all at the same time. Have got hold of the little electrical coolant fan and cowling for rad. Have no restrictor ring for the by pass pipe though, nor a boost gauge yet... (stupid question perhaps, but do you need a boost gauge for each turbo, and where do they plumb in?) Oh, I forgot to mention the SSQV in my growing list of bolt-on bits.

As WSB2 says, you won't need a restrictor ring if you're fitting UK spec turbos.

A boost gauge would be a wise investment though. I've got a spare one I can drop in to you if you want it. I go past Fareham every day.

You only need one boost gauge.

Jake, yes please mate. No idea if it is PC to put a phone number up here...pse advise how to contact you.

Elliot, hello mate...it was my aerodeck being annihilated by your Silver monster on the M27 the other week that inspires me to work harder every time I come up with an apparently unsolvable snag these last few days!

Send me an email with your address and phone number mate.

BTW, it's 'Aerotop' not 'Aerodeck'. Aerodeck is a honda thing isn't it?
