Rav4 4wd problems

They only use 4wd when needed - even though they are AWD. It's possibly to make the wheels spin until the hubs lock.

 

Taken from an internet post on how the Rav 4 AWD works:

 

"a RAV 4 that has the awd only cruises in fwd but if there is little traction (wheel spin, slip) then the rear wheels will receive torque from the transmission and thus making it awd, this system gives you awd when you need it but fwd when you need mpg"

 

Is this an issue you've just noticed or has it always done it?

Cheers mate i read that exact same statement yesterday, it just confused me as it says its full time 4wd, i need to read up more :)
