What to check buying cheap cars.

What checks can be done on cars eg buying off ebay?

 

Preferably free so I can do them on any cars I fancy before even considering them.

Is that one to avoid or not? How do I know?

You can make enquiries with the Police, ask them to do a check and see if it's "of interest", ie still stolen/subject ot investigation. Ask if a V23 has been submitted, thats usuallya good indicator if a car has been written off by an insurance co. Don't let them flannel you with data protection act stuff, it doesn't apply for this information to be released as its about a car- not an individual.

 

As for other stuff HPI which will cost you i'm afraid.
