TLicense
Guts is drilling off the exhaust manifold to fit an EGT probe, knowing theirs a distinct possibility of getting swarf around the turbo. Balls is knowing it's my daily driver, and I've not got any money to put it right if it goes wrong.

JohnA
"common sense" is using blobs of grease to catch the swarf and wipe it off before fitting the sensor
JohnK
Been there! Get one of those telescopic magnets and have a good poke around inside the manifold after you have drilled and after tapping.

JohnA
It only works for ferrous materials obiously, ideally cast iron bits. The 'grease' trick is usually preferable though, because it stops them from finding their way into inaccesible crevices that the magnet cannot reach. JohnA
Yeah, I always use telescopic magnets, it's very easy drop bits when working on a car.
