They are just pushed in....But the trouble is they are pushed in quite well and they are very flimsy. I think you'd be quite lucky to remove it and for it still to be useable. Toyota show this as a consumable item. Doh!

well if its a consumable, chances are it'll be cheap from mrT then.

Hi all, have got one from Toyota £13

I now have to pay £200 to have the hub removed and a stipid deflector fitted and then put back on the car...... all because i need the car for Saturday and dont have time to do it myself :( I'm not having much luck !!!

I'm wondering whether it would slide over the driveshaft... if so you could undo the six bolts that hold the CV joint at the diff end, pop the shaft, and slide it down. I would have thought that would be quite a quick job. But I haven't done it so I don't know for a fact.

I think you may be onto something here. Is it possible to remove the driveshaft without touching the hub assembly ?

Ie: undo the diff end bolts, then undo the main hub bolt and slide the whole lot out of the hub towards the diff ?

that way i could fit the new deflector and slide it all back in and 'bobs your uncle' !

Can anyone tell me if this can be done ? :thanks:

I don't think you'd need to touch the hub end. There isn't a shaft from the CV joint that goes into the diff. It just bolts on to the diff 'cup' thing with the six bolts. I'm sure there would be enough movement in the joints just to be able to drop the shaft at the diff end and leave it all connected at the hub end. ... But as I said I've not tried it.
