terribleturner
Any body had them or have knowledge of them?? My sister went to one of those walk in clinics and they say she's got them. But how contagious are they?? Don't really want to be catching anything at the moment. And anything i can do to make her more comfortable?? Class One
James, mumps in men can make you infertile in extreme cases. I believe ( I may be wrong) that it is at its most contagious when its in its incubation period, ie before symptoms are felt. Best get yourself checked too. I'm sure there's a Doctor on the forum? terribleturner
Well i asked my old dear and she thought that we both had already had them, but then she doubted hereself so we don't know. maybe i should lock her in her room and throw stuff through the window for her. lust2luv
Most people have either had them (you can't catch them twice) or have been vaccinated against them. For those who somehow avoided either, there are a lot of cases around at the moment.
Guest Sakura
Most people have either had them (you can't catch them twice) or have been vaccinated against them. For those who somehow avoided either, there are a lot of cases around at the moment. You may not have been immunised, or have had them when you were young. Check with your GP immediately. It will be on your records if you are immunised. Not only is it a very unpleasant disease when you are older, it can have serious consequences (as pointed out by Class One). terawua
sorry, think I read this too late... but yeah, mumps affects the salivary glands and the testes (cojones for those who speak spanish) as most of us are grown up enough to have avoided MMR jabs by a long way, then the only other thing is whether you had it as a child, which I know I did cos I lived in a small village and caught everything going and I turned out fine *ahem*
terribleturner
Well she's banished to the garden at present. Does anyone know if animals can carry it?? Just we have 2 dogs who will probably come into contact with both of us.
