Shovels Posted July 11, 2005 Share Posted July 11, 2005 I've installed hundreds of ADSL modem/routers over the years and have no problems, but I've got to do a Cable DSL job. I've only ever seen two in action before and that was only briefly. The guy is going through Blue Yonder and they're supplying a modem. Does anyone know if the modem comes with an RJ45 LAN connector as I want to plug it into a WiFi AP. Also the WiFi AP, is it any different from a WiFi AP that I've used in past installations with ADSL? Thanks in advance. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
ivan Posted July 11, 2005 Share Posted July 11, 2005 If it's anything like NTL cable then the modem will have RJ45 and will only work with one MAC address. You therefore need an AP that can provide MAC spoofing, DHCP client from the modem and DHCP for IP addresses for the connected PCs. However, that's NTL... geoffvalenti Posted July 12, 2005 Share Posted July 12, 2005 Blueyonder normally comes with a RJ45 socket on the modem. Just connect it to your wireless router of choice, reboot the modem, and it should just fire up.
