Suprab1
I have a Levin that was parked up for a while, now after cleaning it up for the road again i noticed a little laquer had peeled of the bonnet. I gave it a little rub with 1500 wet & dry to smooth it off then sprayed it over with laquer. But after it dried there was a small patch with little holes, so i rubbed it down again but feer if i try again with laquer it will look worse. I was thinking a little 040 white for it to fill the holes then laquer it but the body shop tells me there is so many shades of 040 white & recomends a full bonnet respray for about €250 - €300. Now i thought 040 would have been 040 am i wrong? I don't really want to spend that on a mark that can only be noticed if you know it's there. Ah not good so. Any ideas of the best way to tidy it up? It's only about the size of a 2 euro coin.
SupraDan24
I'd go for an 040 from an auto paint shop in one of the proper rattle cans they do. If it doesnt look then bite the bullet and do the whole bonnet. I'd certanly try that before going for the bonnet straight off.
pedrosixfour
I'm not sure I understand what your bodyshop guy is trying to suggest. Surely if he is recommending a full bonnet spray he'd still need to get the correct shade of 040 to match the rest of the bloody car! If he is considering blending two different shades then he'll need to paint some of each wing which is why things might be getting expensive. Where is the blemish on the bonnet? Could you not get away with a feckin' sticker or decal or even a vinyl stripe?

No it's off centre to the left, if i have to do the bonnet i will but just thought there would be a handy way of touching it up & buffing the whole car. dude
He would paint the repair and fade the colur out to the edge of the bonnet then laquer the whole bonnet, its the only way top do it correctly.
