Another clutch question.

I've searched, but theres no links that I'm looking for.

Basically my clutch is doing that thing where it makes a noise and then it goes when you put the clutch in.

It sounded really bad today though, a lot louder. What I want to know is will there be any other signs as it gets worse or will it just die one day?

Will it start slipping (the old motorway, put foot down, revs rise but no acceleration bit) first?

Anyone?

It had a clicky ratchet kinda feel today, then it went, then it came back again.

I'm worried.

Mate to be honest it could be a few things in the clutch asembly making this noise..

Release bearing is one and another cluprit is the flywheel. The flywheels tend to last 60k and then the dual mass section degrades and they start to chatter..

If you are going to pay to have the gearbox dropped and want to try and replace the throwout bearing I have a complete clutch bearing and ring kit that was used for less than 200 miles but swapped out because I hated the flywheel I went with. Its yours for £30.

How much to fix?

The bearing was around £40 but as the box was being dropped i decided to bite the bullet and replace the clutch and flywheel at the same time the costs were:

clutch cover assy £119.95

clutch release bearing £37.33

Clutch plate £78.33

Flywheel £280.72

Add labour to the above ??

Those prices were from july last year

regards
