The turbos only need a bit of oil for lubrication, they have tiny bearings, look at the oil feed size to a crank main bearing, they are only about 1/8 inch bore. The turbo needs a good deal of flow at low pressure, to remove heat. No need for big pressure pipes, but the drain needs to be TOTALLY unrestrictive, hence the BIG drain size.
