*POP* --cringe-- !!!!!!!

well putting the Supra away after a weekend of cleaning out

the garage there was a huge *POP* and realised

that my rear driver side wheel had ran over a nice metal bracket,

looked at the tyre last night, seemed ok, checking this morning

and seemed inflated.... will take it out tonite and check the pressure - but....

2 questions

1) is there anyway of getting a "professional" to check that the

tyre is ok? and not likley to blow while driving?

2) i forgot to take down the tyre size to get some quotes

today of prices,

anyone know what size the stock 17's are ?

I guess the pop could have been the metal bracket being

ejected out from under the tyre at speed, could i have been

that lucky!

I heard that you are not supposed to have 2 different treads

/ makes of tyre on the driving wheels - is this correct?

In order of preference i am going for :

Eagle F1's

So2's or So3's

Dunlop SP9000

cheeeeers guys - looks like i maybe getting new rubber

sooner than i thought !!!

Mine's a UK spec though so might not be the same.

Hey SMW,

Any chance you could send a pic of your car - quite interested in what a red lowered Supra would look like on Blitz 18s :)

Gaz.

Nobody will put their neck on the line and tell you your tyre is safe to drive on, especially not if their business is selling tyres.

Having said that, I once had a 8/10mm bolt go through my tyre, had it repaired and still drove like a maniac.

Blew out and rolled the car though!

Only joking on the last bit!

Yep that would certainly not be advisable, especially on a Supra.

don't mix tyre treads / makes on one axle.

It's probably not even a good idea to have different tyres on front to back, but definitely don't mix them on the same axle.
